Holiday Photo Assignment

I hope you are all having a lovely holiday Room 8. Here is your holiday photo assignment.

Take a photo of a special time during your holidays! Remember to include a few sentences to tell me about the photo. I'd love to see photos from kids in any class. I'll give 10 tokens to any Auroa student who sends me a holiday photo that I choose to publish on the blog.
If published, your photos will be visible on http://writinginspirationauroa.blogspot.co.nz/

Again I want to congratulate you on a fantastic idea for promoting interaction and creativity with your blog. A great idea to get students thinking, working in the holidays and hopefully contributing to your blog. I have promoted this a bit on Twitter and will do so again in the next few days so hopefully you get some fantastic entries. Great idea.

  3. Great idea Miss Nicholas! We'd love to see what your students do up here at Mokoia Intermediate. Here's a link to our blogpost and photo from today so that you can see that we are keen to support our community in and out of school time! http://mokoiaintermediate.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/anzac-day-2014.html

    1. That is fantastic that you had so many students supporting a community event during their holidays! I will head to your page and leave a comment. Do you think we could put a copy of your holiday photo on our photo blog, with a link to you page of course?

  4. I love the idea! To extend it you could have students choose a picture from the holiday and write their own creative story about it. How much fun would it be to have your classmates write stories about your picture.

    1. Thank you, I hope to do that when we get back to school! Also hoping to map all the places we get photos from, and surround with the related stories. I hope the kids will be really motivated by their friends photos and photos from around the world.

  5. Shakira,

What a wonderful way to keep your students connected even when they are away for break! I'm sure your students would be so excited to contribute that they would do it for free! Be sure to post this on Twitter when you start having entries. The world would love to learn what children of NZ enjoy doing during their holiday breaks.

    1. Thank you for your comment from Iowa! As well as writing about their own photos, I hope to get the kids finding out about the places around the world where photos and comments are arriving from and mapping them on the wall. Check out this photo of some of our children enjoying their holidays in NZ http://writinginspirationauroa.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/holidays-amelia.html

  8. I've been meaning to get here and tell you what a great idea I think this is! I will be sharing it with my students tomorrow, and probably using it when we have our next break. We are not on vacation at the moment, but we'd love to contribute.
